Yield: 1 Serving
Print recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 small arepa
  • 1/2 apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Tiny pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Warm the arepa according to package directions or toast it in a dry skillet until heated through.
  2. Place apple slices, honey, milk, cinnamon, and a tiny pinch of salt in a small skillet. Cook over medium-low heat for 3 to 4 minutes until the apple is tender and glossy.
  3. Split the arepa carefully and spoon the warm apple mixture inside, or place the apples over the top for an open-faced version.
  4. Spoon any cinnamon-honey juices from the skillet over the arepa and serve warm.

Good for: A fun autumn twist on an arepa that tastes like a simple apple pastry without needing extra baking.

Optional: Add a little finely grated orange zest to the apples.
