Tomato-Beef & Cabbage Skillet
Uses: beef burger patty, cabbage, tomato sauce, red onion, mushrooms
Ingredients:
- 1 beef burger patty, thawed if package directions allow crumbling
- 1 1/2 cups thinly sliced cabbage
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons diced red onion
- 1/3 cup tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon oil
- Paprika, oregano, garlic powder, black pepper
- Small amount of salt
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a large skillet. Cook the beef thoroughly, crumbling it if appropriate for the product.
- Add red onion and mushrooms and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the mushrooms begin to brown.
- Add cabbage, paprika, oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, and a small amount of salt. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes until the cabbage starts to soften.
- Stir in tomato sauce and 2 tablespoons water. Cover and simmer for another 3 to 5 minutes until the cabbage is tender but still has some texture.
Good for: A one-pan dinner inspired by stuffed cabbage flavors, without the extra work of rolling leaves.
Optional: Serve with a toasted burger bun or add cooked penne to stretch the meal.
